By the time I started querying Stray, I actually did know several published writers. I was fortunate enough that two of them liked my stuff enough to send the first few chapters to their agents. I was cautiously optimistic, but knew it was a long shot.

I was right. Neither of the agents liked it enough to ask for more.

My ARCs came in the mail today, and I've been staring at them for hours now. This is the first time I've ever seen my book in actual book form, and it's...so cool! What was once intellectual property is now a real physical product that you can hold, and shelve, and read!
